Gail Unruh coordinates the McNair
Scholars Program. He grew up in a working-class family in Colorado and attended Colorado State University. After teaching high school for five
years, he decided to pursue a graduate degree and earned his Ph.D.
in 1987 from the University of Oregon. Gail has been an adjunct faculty member
in the UO Department of History and a visiting assistant professor of history
at Miami University in Ohio. Involved with TRiO programs since 1993, he maintains
research interests in liberalism and conservatism in twentieth-century America
as well as post-World War II American political and social movements.
