Carl Bybee is an Associate Professor of Communication in the School of Journalism and a participating faculty member of the Comparative Literature Program. He received his Ph.D. in 1978 from the University of Wisconsin, Madison and has been a member of the UO faculty since 1982. Recipient of the Marshall Award for innovative teaching in 1997, Bybee’s teaching reflects his research and is focused on the relationship between journalism as an institution and democratic government.
