John Baldwin received his Ph.D. in zoology and wildlife ecology in 1977 from
the University of Wisconsin (Madison). He joined the UO faculty in 1980 and
now is Director of the Institute for a Sustainable Environment and Associate
Professor of Planning, Public Policy and Management (PPPM). On campus he is
also a participating faculty member in the Environmental Studies Program, a
member of the Canadian Studies Steering Committee, and active in other research
institutes and programs. Over the years, Professor Baldwin has written government
reports, policy papers, and numerous scholarly articles. His current research
interests include forestry practices in the United States, Canada, and Russia
as well as environmental education issues related to Chernobyl.
