Jon Erlandson, archeologist and Associate Professor of Anthropology, received
his Ph.D. in 1988 from the University of California, Santa Barbara. A member
of the UO faculty since 1990, he specializes in the study of maritime societies,
human adaptations to coastal environments, the archeology of western North America,
and working with Native American tribes to preserve and protect archeological
sites. As part of his work, he has written or edited eight books and written
almost 100 scholarly articles.
