Jean Stockard is a Professor in the Department of Planning, Public Policy, and Management. She received her Ph.D. in Sociology from the University of Oregon in 1974 and has been on the university faculty since that time. Her current research projects are quite varied and span areas related to children and youth, sociology of education, sociology of gender, social psychology, and public health. They involve work on trends in youth suicide and homicide, issues related to variations in the quality of health care, characteristics of clergy in a variety of Protestant groups, and gender and education. Recent publications include Sociology: Discovering Society, 2nd ed. and articles in journals such as The American Journal of Sociology and Review of Religious Research.
