Robert Mauro is a member of the University of Oregon Institute of Cognitive
& Decision Sciences and former Head of the Psychology Department. Dr. Mauro
conducts research on decision-making and human emotion. He received his Bachelor’s
Degree from Stanford University in 1979, his Master’s Degree in Psychology
from Yale University in 1981, and his Doctorate in Psychology from Stanford
in 1984. Dr. Mauro’s research focuses on understanding how individuals
make decisions in applied settings and how emotion and individual differences
in affective and cognitive processes influence these decisions. Dr. Mauro has
worked with a number of organizations in aviation, law, and law enforcement
including the Los Angeles Police Department, Santa Clara County Sheriff’s
Department, Oregon State Police, NAACP Legal Defense Fund, National Consortium
for Atmospheric Research, and the National Aeronautics and Space Administration.
