Molecular Biology
Brian Truong, McNair Scholar
Jill Murray completed a B.Sc. and M.Sc. in chemistry at Queen’s
University in Kingston, Canada, and investigated the role of molybdenum
enzymes in organic nitrate biotransformation to nitric oxide. Following
her work at Queen’s, she worked in Ottawa at the National Research
Council of Canada studying membrane-protein interactions using atomic
force microscopy. A chemistry Ph.D. student at the UO since spring
2003, she is a member of the Institute of Molecular Biology and
Andy Berglung’s lab, where she studies RNA splicing. Specifically,
her research is focused on understanding how introns are recognized
and spliced. Currently, she is studying novel intronic motifs important
for the recognition and splicing of a subset of human introns.
