Jane Cramer, Assistant Professor of Political Science, received her Ph.D. from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 2002. She first taught at the UO as a visiting assistant professor in 2000, then became a formal member of the Department of Political Science two years later. Within her field of international relations, Prof. Cramer has focused on such issues as the causes and prevention of war, terrorism and the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction, and U.S. interventions in developing nations. Recent publications include “Militarized Patriotism: Why the U.S. Marketplace of Ideas Failed before the Iraq War,” Security Studies, (2007); and “‘Just Cause’ or Just Politics? U.S. Panama Invasion and Standardizing Qualitative Tests for
Diversionary War,” Armed Forces and Society (2006).
