Jeannine Schneider, McNair Scholar

Stephanie Wood received her Ph.D. in Latin American History from the University of California at Los Angeles in 1984. Since coming to the UO in 1988, she has worn several hats. An Adjunct Assistant Professor of Latin American History, she also offers courses for Women’s and Gender Studies and for Spanish. Her principle role, however, is as the Associate Director and Senior Research Associate for the Wired Humanities Project affiliated with the Center for the Study of Women in Society. Her publications include Transcending Conquest: Nahua Views of Spanish Colonial Mexico, (University of Oklahoma Press, 2003), for which Dr. Wood received an honorable mention for the Howard Cline Book Prize, and Sources and Methods for the Study of Postconquest Mesoamerican Ethnohistory, Provisional Version (e-book), co-edited with James Lockhart and Lisa Sousa, Wired Humanities Project, 2007.
