What is Student Support Services?

The Student Support Services (SSS) program (TRiO) provides assistance to help undergraduates meet their academic demands and graduate from the University of Oregon. The program assists students whose socioeconomic, educational, and personal situations suggest they may experience significant challenges while working toward their bachelor’s degrees. At the University of Oregon, SSS participants’ graduation rates exceed those of the general student body.

Benefits

  • Academic advising for course selection and graduation plans
  • Assistance with finding mentors and internships
  • Workshops, courses, tutoring, and study skill assistance
  • Study area with computer and printer

Eligibility

Students qualify based on federally defined criteria:

  • students who meet low-income qualifications
  • students whose parents did not graduate from a four-year college
  • individuals who have documented physical or learning disabilities

Funding is limited. Applicants are screened to ensure those accepted into the program are committed to earning a bachelor’s degree and have academic needs that cannot be met through other resources.
